WRIGHT FAMILY. Before N. Tetreau, Notary Public, on 29 November 1901, appeared Thomas H. Birks, book-keeper of the City of Hull, making a declaration of the death dates of:
a) PHILEMON (EPHRAIM) WRIGHT died 22 May 1874 s/o TIBERIUS WRIGHT & LOIS RICKER
b) LOIS RICKER widow of TIBERIUS WRIGHT SR died 19 January 1879. At the time of her death there was certain monies owed to her estate by Ezra Butler Eddy. This balance later was paid to her daughter, NANCY LOUISA (WRIGHT) widow of the late Judge John Scott.

Certificate of Marriage between PHILEMON WRIGHT & ABIGAIL WYMAN on 16 May 1782 solemnized by John Marrett, Pastor of this town [of Woburn], Second Parish, County of Middlesex, State of Massachusetts. The certification is sworn by the Rev. Samuel Sewell [who wrote the “History of Woburn”] on 2 Apr 1850, before Nathan Blanchard Justice of the Peace.
This information was requested by Ruggles Wright Sr. and was registered as Exhibit B by James Finlayson Taylor, Registrar, [and brother-in-law of Ruggles] 20 Apr 1850.

Letter dated Hull 16 Apr 1850 by RUGGLES WRIGHT to The Editor “Bytown Gazette” requesting the day upon which his late brother TIBERIUS WRIGHT was buried. TIBERIUS WRIGHT died 20 Apr 1841 at 11 o’clock p.m. Buried by Easton Irving, Minister, on 7 May 1841.

Letter dated Hull 23 Mar 1850 by RUGGLES WRIGHT to Clerk of the Peace, District of Ottawa, at Lorignal requesting a Certificate of Marriage between his brother TIBERIUS WRIGHT to NANCY CHAMBERLAIN (first wife). There is no evidence of a reply but it was: 9 Apr 1810. Ruggles, in his letter states he has a copy of the marriage certificate of his brother Tiberius to LOIS RICKER (second wife) which indicates they were married on 27 Mar 1819. Apparently Ruggles wrote another letter a week later saying he had received a copy of the marriage certificate of his brother’s first marriage, to Nancy Chamberlain, for which he paid $2.00. It would seem that he letters were drafts of those which were actually sent.

Certification of the burial of CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS WRIGHT youngest son of PHILEMON WRIGHT & ABIGAIL WYMAN, Lumberer & Farmer, Hull Township, took place 4 August 1842 in the graveyard near Hull Village (now St. James Church). He was 43 years, 4 mos, 8 days of age. Buried by John Johnston, Missionary. Copied from Parish Register of Hull & Aylmer 31 Dec 1850 by Rev John Johnston Prot. Epis. Minister. (b 1799 d 1 Aug 1842).

Baptism on ? of PHILEMON HARRIS WRIGHT son of CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS WRIGHT & DEBORAH ARMSTRONG born 8 May 1843 by me John Johnston, Prot. Epis. Minister [note: the Rev. Johnston seems not to have included the date of baptism but did give the birth date]. (Philemon Harris d 26 Mar 1916. He married twice (1) LYDIA FRANCES McNALLY (1849-1871) married in 1867 (2) MARGARET KINGSBURY (7 June 1837 – 1 Sept 1909) married in 1878 in Gracefield, Que. Margaret Kingsbury was sister of Sarah Kingsbury who married James George Wright – “The Wrights”.

The above lots of land were bequeathed to the surviving males members of his immediate family, including his two sons-in-law Thomas Brigham and James Finlayson Taylor. The one exception to the male sex stipulation was to his daughter Christiana (wife of Jacob F. Morrison, for the benefit of their three children).

WRIGHT NOTEBOOK. This book, with ruled pages, has a wooden cover front and back to which are attached paper over covers in an oiled design. It has a leather spine. The measurements are 7½ x 6”. Page 1 is dated 1841. On the right of each page are three vertical red lines which suggests that the book was designed to be used for the inscribing pounds, shillings and pence (£ s d).
The first 34 pages have been used to record boarders’ names followed mostly with the number 3, under the days of the month (in column form) suggesting meals taken daily by men in a shanty environment.
Starting on page 37 the balance of the book has been used to record births, baptisms, marriages and deaths, mostly of the Wrights, but there are some other family entries. Some pages are loose but seem to be still present.
