St. George's-by-the-Lake Anglican Church, Blue Sea Lake
St. George's-by-the-Lake was built around 1909. The impetus for its construction came from Bishop Charles Hamilton and Archdeacon Johnston Snowdon of St. George's Church, Ottawa, both of whom owned summer cottages on Blue Sea Lake. The first service was held on July 18, 1909 and the church property was transferred to the Church of England in 1911. Until 1970, direction for St. George's-by-the-Lake was assumed by Archdeacon Snowdon, Dean Howard H. Clarke (later Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada), and Archdeacon E. S. Light. Since this date, the church has operated as a summer congregation and the responsibility for providing clergy for services has rested with the church wardens.
