Our Lady of Sorrows, Venosta

Our Lady of Sorrows

Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Venosta QC was constructed by the local men of the parish. The Cornerstone was laid October 11, 1942 and was blessed by Archbishop Alexandre Vachon. Following completion of the church, the first mass was held in May 1943. Parishioners graciously donated various stained glass windows, including a stunning stained glass window in the shape of a crucifix which is located behind the alter. Parishioners also sponsored the windows with the names still displayed to this day. Some of the markers sponsored by families, honour past loved ones by having their names engraved. Our Lady of Sorrows is one of a number of parishes under the direction of the Archdiocese of Gatineau.
