The GVHS at the West Quebec Heritage Fair
Maison Fairbairn House in Wakefield - September 29, 2019
On Sunday, September 29th the GVHS was one of 12 exhibiting groups who participated at the West Quebec Heritage Fair at the Maison Fairbairn House in Wakefield. It was a great opportunity to network with other historical and heritage groups in the area as well as talk with visitors and researchers. In addition, we enjoyed two talks one by Lionel Whiteduck on "The Way to Kitigan Zibi: Understanding the Anishnabeg history and heritage in the 21st century"; and Michael McBane's presentation of "Patron of the Pontiac: John Egan versus Irish sectarianism in the 19th century". With thanks to Dwane Wilkin of QAHN (Quebec Anglophone Heritage Network) for organizing and Fairbairn House Heritage Centre for hosting this event and for their hospitality. Thanks also to everyone who came out for this unique experience and checked us out and even bought some of our publications.
Exhibiting groups: Réseau du patrimoine de Gatineau et de l’Outaouais (RPGO); Centre régionale d’archives de l’Outaouais (CRAO); Société Pièce sur pièce; Fairbairn House Heritage Centre; Cantley 1889; Kitigan Zibi Anishnabeg Cultural Centre; Aylmer Heritage Association; Pontiac Archives; Pontiac Historical Society; Symmes Inn Museum; Gatineau Valley Historical Society; and Quebec Anglophone Heritage Network (QAHN).
