The Halifax Explosion: The Untold Story of Canada's Worst Disaster
Chelsea Library - September 17, 2018
Kingston author-editor and researcher, Ken Cuthbertson spoke to an attentive full house on Monday evening, September 17th 2018 at the Chelsea Library. Ken’s talk on the well-known Halifax disaster over a hundred years ago gave some new insights leading up to the disaster as well as some follow-up on the investigation post-disaster leaving the audience to ponder some conclusions of their own. Along with some photos never before published that he came across in his in-depth research, Ken focused mainly on the human element of the story – ships’ captains and pilots, some of its heroes, and including those who stepped up to the plate in relief efforts to help the citizens of Halifax recoup and rebuild. More information on Ken’s book, a result of his comprehensive research, can be found here: https://www.harpercollins.ca/9781443450256/the-halifax-explosion.
