Full events calendar marks 50-year GVHS milestone
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Gatineau Valley Historical Society (GVHS), and the volunteer group has scheduled a slate of monthly activities to celebrate it.
The history-theme talks and events going on in the Gatineau Hills are as follows:
May 28: Annual dinner and awards evening at Camp Fortune. Tickets cost $35 and the cocktails start at 5:30 p.m., with a dinner at 6:30 p.m. Contact Shirley Brown (819-827-1999 or browncrest@sympatico.ca) before
May 23 to reserve a spot. June 10: Hop in your canoe or kayak for the Gatineau River Heritage Paddle. The event starts in Wakefi eld at 10:30 a.m. and ends at the Grange de la Gatineau in Cantley, followed by a barbecue at 4 p.m.
June 16: Head to the Gatineau Airport for a tour of the 23,000 square-foot hangar, which resembles a wartime military installation. Check out the collection of 18 historically signifi cant airplanes. Tour space is limited. Contact Bob McClelland at mccfarm@magma.ca or 819-827-0540.

Nov. 19: War of 1812 - a talk by Vic Suthren at the Meredith Centre
