All About Bridges
OCTOBER 1884.
At a general monthly and adjourned session of the Municipal Council of the West Part of the township of Hull in the County provision of the Municipal Code of Quebec and according motion of adjournment on Monday the 6th day of October 1884, at One o'clock p.m. at the townhall at the place commonly called Upper Chelsea in the said Municipality of the West Part of the township of Hull in the said county and district of Ottawa, at which were present Councillors N.N. Garner Church, Martin Welch, Wm. Cross and Henry Crilly, forming a Quorum of this Council.
Minute No. 58:
Moved by Council Church, seconded by Councillor Welch that the Secretary-treasurer is hereby instructed to advertise for tenders for the building of a bridge over Meech Lake Creek on the Cowden Road according to specifications. Carried.
MARCH 1885. The end day... At a general-etc., etc.
Minute No. 98:
Moved by Councillor Blackburn, seconded by Councillor Crilly that the report of Councillors Welch and Cross concerning the Cowden Bridge is hereby accepted and that the Secretary-treasurer is hereby authorised to pay to Mr. Cowden the sum of seventy five dollars $75 for the building of said bridge. The keeping in repair of said bridge will remain with the interested parties. Carried.
Minute No. 104:
Moved by Councillor Blackburn, seconded by Councillor Crilly that the Secretary treasurer is hereby authorized to pay $18 for committee expenses on Meech and Gatineau bridge and Cowden bridge. Carried.
APRIL 1885, the 7th day... At a general - etc., etc.
Minute No. 109:
Moved by Councillor Welch, seconded by Councillor Cameron that the passing of a Bylaw condemning of Gatineau bridge and repealing all motions concerning its maintenance is left over untill (sic) next meeting and that his Worship the Mayor is hereby instructed to take legal advice. Carried.
MAY 1885. The 4th day... At a general etc., etc.
The report on the Gatineau bridge is laid on the table and read by his Worship the Mayor and a verbal report is given by the Secretary-treasurer concerning the searches made concerning the Gatineau bridge.
Minute No. 119:
Moved by Councillor Welch, seconded by Councillor Burke that the report on the Gatineau bridge is accepted and that the Secretary-treasurer is instructed to make the necessary enquiries and take legal advice on the matter. Carried.
AND that seems to end the matter.
