Gatineau River: Then and Now
Lower Gatineau River from the air in 1926 and 1997
Set 19 - Wakefield and Burnside Road (Click on images for additional details)
These views show Burnside Road, but Ski Vorlage, established in the 1940s, is visible only in the NOW image. Both photographs show the mouth of the Pèche River (Rivière la Pèche) emptying into the Gatineau.
Immediately north (right) of the rail and road bridges across the Pèche, on the left side of the road, is the Manor House. This house, which became the first site (1952-1999) of the Gatineau Memorial Hospital, is now Residence Le Manoir de Wakefield, a seniors' residence.
