The Cross sawmill on Meech Creek, along with its millpond and the rail spur leading to it, are visible in the THEN image. Railroad ties produced at this mill were shipped across Canada. Wood was floated down Meech Creek to the mill pond in the spring. The Crosses also installed a hydroelectric generator there and sold electric power to customers in the surrounding area.
