Oliver Master Trophy
Oliver Master Trophy
RCGA Silver Jug (18cms) on Single Tier
Event: Men’s Shark Shootout
History
In the early 40’s, the RCGA provided silver jugs, complete with the RCGA crest, to encourage clubs across Canada to host Red Cross tournaments as fund raisers for the War effort. Larrimac hosted one such event in 1943 which was won by Oliver Master – one of the Club’s earlier members who served on the tennis committee in 1939 – and he was presented with this jug. One day in the late ‘90’s, an unmarked package arrived at the Club. Obviously someone, in going through Oliver’s possessions, came across the jug, saw the Larrimac name and returned it to the Club who in turn, matched it with a base and the Shark Shootout competition was created with its’ own trophy.Competition | Men’s Shark Shootout. |
